The National Centre for Computing Education announces four new Computing Hubs

The National Centre for Computing Education has announced a further four schools/colleges that have been successful in their application to become Computing Hubs. This takes the total number of Computing Hubs to 34 and widens the geographical reach of the programme across England.
The Computing Hubs provide high-quality support and training to primary, secondary and post 16 computing teachers in their areas.
The new lead schools and colleges are:
· Bohunt School, Hampshire
· Woking High School, Surrey
· Tameside College, Greater Manchester
· The Priory Academy LSST, Lincolnshire
Each institution went through a rigorous selection process, successfully demonstrating a high degree of expertise and commitment to computing education. As the focal point for local computing CPD, the Hubs will offer training within a reasonable day’s travel, covering the practical and theoretical aspects of computing. They will also facilitate strong links with industry and engage with university expertise.
Background
The National Centre for Computing Education is led by a consortium of STEM Learning, the Raspberry Pi Foundation and BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, delivering support through a network of Computing Hubs. The driving ambition of the centre is to ensure every child has access to a world-leading computing education, increasing the number of pupils in schools and colleges who study computer science at GCSE and A level, particularly girls and disadvantaged groups, to ensure there is a strong pipeline of digital skills in England.
The National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) was established in November 2018 with up to £84 million of Government funding and is supported by a further £1.5 million from industry to develop and support access to CPD for teachers.
