Join us at BETT 2022 for our exciting Computing at School and NCCE events

Look out for events hosted by Computing at School (CAS) and the NCCE at BETT 2022, the global event for education and technology at ExCeL, London, March 23 to 25.
BETT brings together educators and innovators from across the education landscape, and we’re thrilled that the NCCE will be part of the CAS events planned for BETT.
We’d particularly like to welcome everyone along to BETT After Hours - CAS Networking Event on Thursday 24 March, 6pm – 7:45pm in the Tech in Action Theatre, which will be a chance to find out more about CAS and the NCCE.
CAS, the teacher-led network of computing educators, will be hosting four sessions at BETT:
Barefoot computing - hands on unplugged activities to teach computational thinking
Speaker: Jon Chippindall, Barefoot Content Director - BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT
Wednesday 23 March 3-3:30pm BETT Academy Live (North)
This hands-on session will introduce delegates to Barefoot computing which provides free resources and workshops to support teachers to teach computational thinking and programming in primary schools. Delegates will take part in a range of unplugged activities and be introduced to the Climate Champions resources as well as find out how to access Barefoot resources. Learn more.
Developing computing in your school: a strategic approach newly launched Computing Quality Framework

Find out how to use the NCCE’s free Computing Quality Framework to evaluate your school's computing curriculum and plan for the future. The NCCE's Computing Quality Framework is a free online tool which helps schools review their provision against best practice. It helps future planning and links directly to the NCCE resources schools put those plans into action. This session will provide an overview of the framework and how to use it. Learn more.
Primary subject leaders' toolkit - reflections from the classroom

Hear from experienced primary computing subject leads on how they develop the subject in their school, including examining: - family and community engagement, such as online safety events and coding competitions - how to lead and develop staff to increase their computing capability, including less confidence teachers - effective resourcing of computing, in conjunction with the school development plan - pedagogical and subject knowledge, along with the latest developments in primary computing - how to demonstrate expertise in the subject, such as when discussing computing with staff and external agencies, including SLT and Ofsted. BETT After Hours - CAS Networking Event
Thursday 24 March 6pm – 7:45pm, Tech in Action Theatre
Computing at School aims to bring together a community of teachers, academics and industry professionals, all passionate about ensuring every child receives a world-leading computing education. CAS is hosting this event in collaboration with the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE).
Pop along to meet members of the CAS community and the NCCE to informally share your ideas on developing computing education and ways in which your organisation can assist in achieving the goal of every child achieving a world-class computing education. Learn more.
Sharing experiences of a computing deep dive

Friday 25 March 3:15pm -3:45pm, Tech in Action (South)
Join CAS community members, reflecting on, sharing experiences and questions asked during an inspection along with guidance around progression, assessment and recording examples of pupils' work. We'll also examine approaches to demonstrating leadership of computing within the primary school, including providing evidence of recent enhancements in the subject and development opportunities provided to staff.
