The new year began with the unwanted news that another round of school closures was necessary for containing the spread of COVID-19.

Our Chair, Professor Simon Peyton Jones, believes that the NCCE is in great shape to support the education community at this difficult time:

“Learning from home presents all of us, teachers, students, and parents, with new challenges. So it helps to have some ideas, activities, and resources to approach those challenges. The National Centre for Computing Education is offering just that for computing: the Teach Computing Curriculum is a comprehensive set of teaching resources, grounded in educational research, classroom tested, mapped to the National Curriculum and GCSE syllabi, 100% free, and available in soft-copy so that you can adapt and change them.”

Teach Computing Curriculum

Our curriculum contains everything you need to teach computing at Key Stages 1 to 4, including lesson plans, slides, worksheets, homework and assessment.

All of the content is free, and has been created by subject experts, based on the latest pedagogical research and teacher feedback. It also provides an innovative progression framework where computing content (concepts, knowledge, skills, and objectives) has been organised into interconnected networks we call learning graphs. All the KS2-4 computing lessons on their site have been created by our team and are based on the units from our Teach Computing Curriculum.

Isaac Computer Science

If you’re looking for A level resources, or bridging material for GCSE, check out Isaac Computer Science: our online learning platform for A level computer science teachers and students.

You can access a huge range of time-saving learning materials that covers the full A level computer science curriculum for the AQA and OCR exam boards.

Set questions for your students and our system will mark it and give you a detailed breakdown of their progress. Isaac Computer Science is great for supporting remote teaching, homework, and revision sessions, and helps you to quickly identify areas where students can improve.
