Date: 24 May 2024 - 6 hour course
Explore ways to introduce contexts relating to cross-curricular topics, everyday life, and the wider world.
From this CPD you will learn how to:
- teach knowledge and skills in computing through a cross-curricular approach
- structure teaching using contextualised learning ensuring computing objectives are met
- identify how to ensure progression in Computing when using cross-curricular contexts
- develop the teaching of Computing in your school using contexts relevant to your learners and setting
- tailor lessons to account for topics within year groups
Teaching an inclusive context rich primary computing curriculum
Date: 4 to 5 June 2024
During this two day residential, you'll explore ways to bring your computing curriculum to life through cross-curricular approaches and how to ensure that your computing curriculum is inclusive and effective.
From this CPD you will take away:
- develop the teaching of computing in your school using contexts relevant to your learners and setting
- teach knowledge and skills in computing through a cross-curricular approach
- identify how to ensure progression in computing when using cross-curricular contexts
- plan how to motivate and support colleagues to teach excellent computing lessons
- develop teaching approaches that widen the appeal of computing, leading to creative and collaborative lessons
Bring computing to life using a context-based approach
Date: 17 to 18 June 2024
You'll build on your leadership of computing, and find out support programming and context-based learning within your role.
From this CPD you will take away:
- explain the progression of programming through KS1 and KS2
- describe effective approaches to teaching programming and identify what this looks like in the classroom
- support teachers within your school to deliver effective programming lessons within KS1 and KS2
- teach knowledge and skills in computing through a cross-curricular approach
- structure teaching using contextualised learning ensuring computing objectives are met
